Emerging Internal Audit Leader Award

The Emerging Internal Audit Leader Award recognises superior and progressive contributions by an individual to their organisation and/or internal audit profession. Enthusiastic and passionate about governance and risk assurance, past winners have brought innovation and perspective to the profession. 

Prize

The shortlisted nominees will receive:

  • Two complimentary tickets to SOPAC® gala dinner.

  • One economy airfare and one night’s accommodation (capped value)

  • Public recognition across IIA-Australia media

The Award winner will receive

  • an engraved plaque and letter of achievement

Eligibility

To be eligible, a nominee must be:

  • Be able to demonstrate they have made a valued contribution to their organisation, such as:

    • Introduced an innovative internal audit approachthat improved the internal audit process for the function and/or stakeholders.

    • Increased the visibility and acceptance of Internal Audit as an essential function of a healthy organisation.

    • Fostered organisational capability through education, support of others and collaboration.

    • Successfully implemented another initiative not referred to above.

  • Be able to provide the organisation’s endorsement of the achievement.

  • Have no more than 5 years' experience as an internal auditor and be employed in the profession at the time of nominating

  • Have good professional standing and be a financial member of the IIA-Australia.

Process & Requirements

  1. Nominations close midnight AEDT 1 December 2024.

  2. The IIA-Team may conduct a preliminary screening interview with eligible candidates’ and/or referees.  

  3. The judging panel will review and determine shortlists (noting that if they believe there is no suitable candidate none will be awarded).  

  4. Shortlisted candidates will be notified 18 December 2024. At this time, shortlisted candidates will be asked to commit to a panel interview the week commencing 3 February 2025, ensure their referees are are available for a call that same week, and make travel plans to attend the SOPAC Gala Dinner in Melbourne on 1 April 2025

  5. The judging panel will determine the winner of each Award and this will remain confidential until announced on the night. 

  6. Winners announced at SOPAC Gala Dinner.
